ViVOtech announced that the former GSMA Business Lead for NFC, Nav Bains, has joined ViVOtech as the Vice President of Business Development for Telecommunications and Channel Management. In this role, Bains is responsible for working with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) around the world, as well as with global channel partners to which ViVOtech provides its Trusted Service Manager (TSM) software and NFC interactive marketing platform software.

Bains, who has a doctorate in physics, was previously responsible for the mobile money initiatives in the GSMA. He was primarily involved in the Pay-Buy-Mobile (PBM) initiative where NFC is used to enable SIM-based mobile payments. Bains was the PBM project director since its inception in 2007, which today boasts over 61 MNOs participating in the project. Bains held his position at GSMA for nearly six years and brings more than 22 years of experience from the telecommunications industry.
