Watchdata and NETS, Singapore's leading electronic payments provider, collaborate to provide the Jay Gee card that combines the NETS FlashPay Card with a loyalty membership program. Launched on 19 August 2010, the Jay Gee card from the Jay Gee Melwani Group, as a loyalty card, provides discounts, offers and other rewards that include 20% discount on the cardholder’s birthday month at any of the 65 stores of the 10 fashion and lifestyle brands under the group. The NETS FlashPay Card enables cardholders to use the card for transit, including MRT/LRT, public and buses, ERP gantries (with the new generation In-Vehicle Unit) and carparks (which have been upgraded to accept CEPAS cards) as well as payment at over 9,500 retail acceptance points islandwide.
Watchdata, as the technology partner, uses its award winning TimeCOS chip operating system, which is compliant to the Singapore Standard for Contactless ePurse Application (CEPAS). The TimeCOS technology allows interoperability of multi-purpose stored value (MPSV) card payment schemes from different card issuers and system operators.
Michael Yu, President of International Business Operations, Watchdata said, “Watchdata is very much delighted to work with NETS and provide Jay Gee Melwani Group a loyalty card that doubles up as a NETS FlashPay Card. Such innovative product continues to show Watchdata’s commitment providing differentiated innovation that creates new value to its customers.”
Cynthia Liaw, General Manager, Micropayments and Channels Business, NETS, said, “We were very pleased to be able to work with Watchdata in designing a multi-purpose card that stands out from the other fashion loyalty cards on the market. With the Jay Gee card, customers not only enjoy all the benefits associated with one of Singapore’s best known fashion groups but also the assurance of knowing that the card they hold is backed by Singapore’s trusted and preferred electronic payments provider.”
Last year in August, Watchdata helped Singapore People’s Association issue a similar loyalty card, which gained nods from both the association members and other association leaders.
